SHOCK AND TRAUMA CONDITIONS

Craniosacral Therapy is very effective at treating conditions of shock or trauma. Often we are not able to fully recover from experiences in life especially when they overwhelm us. This effects both our mind and body. The forces that create this can come from many different sources.
Traumatic injuries to the body are one such category, for example, an injury from a car accident. The body goes into a state of shock and depending on the severity of the accident and our state of health at the time it is often not able to recover. The therapy can help to bring the body out of shock and repair damaged tissues.

Trauma can also come from other sources, such as abusive or violent acts or environments.  Even if there is no physical assault we can still be deeply distressed by abusive behaviour and develop emotional responses that effect our ability to function in life.
Some of the symptoms this can create are:
tiredness, difficulties sleeping or eating, tension, lack of confidence, anxiety and fearfulness, worried thoughts, feeling dissociated.

These may manifest slowly and much later in life. These experiences and the response to them become imprinted in the body and the mind but it is often the body's response that does not resolve. For a Craniosacral Therapist the important element in treatment is to aid the body to return to its original health.  Much of this comes when the body begins to integrate as a whole and comes out of shock.
